Minimum requirements:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (or currently completing articles/awaiting admission) is highly advantageous 2-6 years of relevant experience in a legal firm, or a tax department Prior experience in a paralegal, administrative, role within a professional services environment will be considered beneficial Strong analytical and research capabilities with the ability to interpret complex legal and tax information Excellent written and verbal communication skills Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks Foundational understanding of South African legal principles and tax legislation Conduct thorough research on legal precedents, statutes, regulations, and tax codes (both South African and international, where applicable) to support ongoing cases and advisory matters Draft, review, and proofread a variety of legal and tax documents, including opinions, memoranda, contracts, agreements, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and adherence to firm standards Assist in the preparation and review of diverse tax returns for individuals, companies, and trusts (e.g., Income Tax, Provisional Tax, VAT, PAYE), ensuring timely and accurate submissions Monitor changes in legal and tax legislation and assist in ensuring the firm and its clients remain compliant with all relevant laws and regulations Actively participate in internal training sessions, mentorship programs, and continuous professional development initiatives to enhance legal and tax expertise
