Junior Commissioning Engineer – Chicago, IL Metro Area

What this job involves

JLL is seeking a motivated Junior Commissioning Engineer to join our Data Center / Mission Critical Commissioning team. This position will be home based in the Chicago metro area.

This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity to learn and grow within the commissioning field under the guidance of experienced professionals.

The successful candidate will assist senior team members in delivering quality commissioning services while developing technical expertise in data center electrical, mechanical and controls systems and commissioning processes.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

Supporting on-site the commissioning activities under the supervision of senior engineersAssisting with field inspections of mechanical, electrical, control and monitoringsystemsDocumenting test results and maintaining commissioning recordsParticipating in commissioning meetings and recording meeting notesHelping prepare commissioning deliverables such as checklists and test proceduresLearning and applying commissioning standards (ASHRAE, CSA)Conducting basic testing and verification activities with guidanceSupporting the development and maintenance of project documentationContributing to issue tracking and resolution processes

Desired experience and technical skills

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related technical field0-3 years of experience in data center systems, construction, or related fieldBasic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systemsProficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Strong attention to detail and organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesWillingness to learn and apply technical conceptsAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamAbility to travel regularly to local project sites and up to 30% to other locations outside the Chicago metro areaDesire to grow professionally in the commissioning field

Preferred:

Internship or co-op experienceBasic knowledge of testing equipment and proceduresExperience reading and interpreting construction documents and drawingsBasic knowledge of building automation systemsInterest in green building practicesBasic knowledge of energy efficiency conceptsExperience with data collection and analysisEagerness to pursue professional certifications in the futureFamiliarity with project management concepts

Estimated total compensation for this position:

90,000.00 – 100,000.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
