Journeyman Scientist and Science Technician

Summary: The Journeyman Scientist and Science Technician Journeyman Scientist and Science Technician to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Human Research Protections Group (HRPG). This role involves providing analytical and administrative support to ensure the effective oversight and protection of human subjects in research. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in scientific or administrative disciplines, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Assist the HRPG team lead in analyzing complex issues related to human research protections and developing actionable recommendations. Provide high-level administrative support, including preparing reports, tracking project milestones, and coordinating communications. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across a diverse research enterprise. Organize and manage work assignments efficiently, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks. Support the development and implementation of quality control and quality assurance processes. Travel locally, regionally, and nationally as required to support program activities. Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Ability to assist the HRPG team lead with analyzing complex problems and providing administrative support for reporting of recommendations to executive level management. Good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work well with various individuals throughout a dynamic and diverse research enterprise, organize work assignments and collaborate across teams. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Arts/Science Degree or Master’s Arts/Science Degree in lieu of experience. Three (3) – ten (10) years of experience Alternatively, must demonstrate prior professional experience related to quality control/quality assurance or in providing high-level administrative support. Available to travel locally, regionally, and nationally. Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting federal research programs or human subjects research. Familiarity with regulatory compliance and research ethics frameworks. Proficiency with project management tools and reporting systems. Pay and Benefits The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $130,000 annually.
