Job Description

The Journeyman Electrician performs electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work at CMI’s customer site located in Washington, DC.

Key Job Functions

Receives assignments verbally and by work order and will determine the safest best methods to accomplish assignments.Responsible for electrical preventive maintenanceTesting and repair of the electrical systemsInstalling or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment;Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.

QualificationsHigh School diplomaAbility to effectively verbally communicateMinimum of 5 years of providing electrical repair services preferably within a federal facilityMust be a current licensed (journeyman level)Must be able to pass government background checkMust possess troubleshooting skills for high, medium, and low voltage electrical systems typically found in large commercial structuresSound ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems, motors, controls, and miscellaneous electrical systems
