UPMC Corporate is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Journeyman 1- Carpenter to join our Facilites Engineering and Maintenance team. This role is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining architectural woodwork, casework, fixtures, and general building components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with power woodworking tools, infection control procedures, and a wide range of maintenance tasks that support the safety and functionality of our facility. The position will primarily work Monday through Friday during the hours of 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Occasionally, the Carpenter may be required to support other shifts for project-related needs, which could involve working outside of standard business hours. Responsibilities: + Construct and maintain structural and architectural woodwork, equipment and fixtures; build millwork, construct casework per print and perform masonry repairs as needed. + Maintain clean and safe work areas, equipment rooms and shop areas. + Operate power woodworking machinery such a lathes, saws, sander, power actuated tools, etc. + Perform all work following infection control procedures. + Perform any maintenance work required in which skills can be utilized. + Perform related duties such as repair and install locks, install window glass, cut, fit and cement linoleum, lay resilient tile floors, etc. + Perform rough and finished carpentry, i.e. build millwork, and construct casework. + Record personal work orders and submit hours to supervisor in a daily basis. + Repair furniture, window, floor or structural and architectural woodwork by measuring, sawing, squaring, fitting, sanding and nailing or other processes where articles require closely fitted parts. + Responsible for setting up appropriate level of infection control containment (ICRA) based on risk level and maintaining the integrity of that containment. + High school diploma or GED required. + Trade school or trade specific multi-discipline certificate required. + Military experience considered. + Two years carpentry experience working in a healthcare or commercial building environment required.
