Joint Interest Accountant I

The Accountant I position for Joint Interest Accounting will require an individual who understands the principles of COPAS accounting. This individual will be responsible for reviewing and processing invoices from outside operators, researching properties, maintaining subsidiary ledgers, reconciling accounts, and performing ad hoc analyses. The job requires the ability to work with others, multi-task and meet deadlines as assigned.


 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the accurate booking of inbound non-operated Joint Venture Billing into the financial system via EnergyLink and manual invoicesMonitor existing cost centers, AFE’s and working interests to ensure correct working interest exists and to incorporate operational changesCommunicate with internal departments to ensure proper set up of new cost centers, AFEs and working interestsCommunicate timely and effectively with operators regarding missing information (AFE’s, well details, etc)Review monthly operational charges in accordance with COPAS and the JOA’s to ensure the Operator has not over expended and requiring Supplement/Revision to approved AFEGenerate payables for both drilling and completion cash calls/AFE prepayment requestsReconciliation of non-operated accounts payable and AFE prepaid balancesFor non-operated accounts in netting: book gross JIBs and reconcile netted amountsInvestigation, tracking, and clearing of JIB disputes in a timely mannerPrepare reports for management related to outstanding balances and disputed itemsMonthly balance sheet account reconciliations as assignedProcess journal entries for expense reclasses as necessaryPerform operator account reconciliationsCollaborate with multiple departments as necessaryOther duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (BS) in AccountingTwo (2+) years of demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

Two (2+) years of accounting experience, preferably in Oil and Gas accountingSAP experience preferredHigh degree of accuracy and attention to detailGood problem solving and critical thinking skillsAbility to operate both independently and as part of a team Flexible regarding workload and priorities Ability to pick up on new concepts quickly Effective communication skills within the organization and with outside partiesPossess a positive and team-oriented attitude
