Only applicants chosen for an interview will be contacted. **SUMMARY OF DUTIES** Reports to the General Repair Shift Foreperson. Service, repair, overhaul, inspection and diagnosis of diesel, and CNG buses in an efficient and effective manner applying a high degree of quality to reduce or eliminate premature wear, service calls, in-service failures and provide maximum service dependability. **GENERAL DUTIES** Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections in accordance with company standards/ policies/guidelines and MTO standards. Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair Transit vehicles and equipment using OEM software that would include but not limited to; Cummins Insite, Allison DOC, Meritor, Bendix, Voith and Vansco. Inspect, diagnose, repair, remove, and install: · engines, transmissions, differentials, and other assemblies · steering components, brake components and suspension systems · ignition, charging systems, instruments, wiring and other electrical and electronic systems and equipment · fuel systems · air conditioning systems · hydraulic systems, components and controls · pneumatic systems, components and controls Disassemble, repair, rebuild, and reassemble major drive/power train components, such as engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, axles, steering, etc. Operate personal and shop tools such as, but not limited to: hoists, cranes, air tools, power tools, saws, presses and torches etc. Perform on-road service and repairs or vehicle retrieval, as necessary. Using Enterprise Asset Management record, enter and review data as directed to provide accurate and timely vehicle repair information. Works in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety. Performs all other duties as assigned, including those directly related to the major responsibilities of the job. **QUALIFICATIONS** 1. Must have and maintain a valid Ontario Truck and Coach Technicians Licence (310T). 2. Capable, knowledgeable, and current in all aspects (practices safe work using OHSA, measuring, shop tools/equipment, major components, etc.) of 310T Qualifications. 3. Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain natural gas endorsement (ICE-NG Certification), refrigeration/air conditioning endorsement and any other endorsements as required by the employer and the Province of Ontario in the future 4. Must be capable of and willing to retain technical competency on Transit Fleet vehicles and equipment. 5. Must have a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence with the ability to obtain and maintain a Class “C” with “Z” endorsement Driver’s Licence. 6. Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision. 7. Must be physically capable of using heavy tools and equipment, working outdoors, working evening, night and weekend shifts. 8. Must supply and maintain an adequate set of personal hand tools required for the job 9. Must participate and complete all required mandatory training within the job class. THIS POSITION REQUIRES A VALID CLASS “G” DRIVER’S LICENCE AND PROOF THEREOF IS REQUIRED AFTER HIRE. SALARY: Hourly Salary Grade 16T $38.370 - $42.630 per hour plus applicable premiums (see below) *Note: See appropriate Collective Agreement or the Non-Union Salary Range for details. HOURS: 40 per week Premiums: Time and a quarter on Sunday (1.25 x rate of pay) Annual tool allowance: $1300.00 Annual boot and clothing allowance: $400.00 SHIFT: To be determined. All candidates should be prepared to work weekends and shift work to support a 24/7 service. Afternoons 3pm - 11pm: $0.85/hr. Nights 11pm – 7am: $1.00/hr. Non-standard shift: $0.85/hr.
