**Who we are** Legal & General Insurance UK is looking for a highly skilled Senior Java Software Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in Java development, object-oriented design, and a passion for clean code and quality engineering. You’ll be working on modern API-driven systems and contributing to the evolution of our digital insurance platforms. **What you'll be doing** + Design and develop robust, scalable applications using Java and OOD principles. + Build and maintain APIs following OpenAPI specifications. + Develop and integrate GraphQL services for efficient data access. + Write and maintain unit and integration tests, ideally using RestAssured and Pact. + Collaborate in an Agile environment, participating in planning, reviews, and retrospectives. + Contribute to workflow automation using tools like Camunda (nice to have). + Apply TDD and CI/CD practices to ensure high-quality software delivery. + Mentor junior developers and participate in code reviews. **What you'll bring along** + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. + Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Java development. + Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design and software architecture. + Proven commitment to clean coding and quality engineering principles. + Experience with OpenAPI design and general design patterns. + Hands-on experience with GraphQL. + Familiarity with automated testing frameworks, especially RestAssured and Pact. + Agile mindset and experience working in Scrum or Kanban teams. + Experience with Camunda or similar workflow/BPM tools. + Exposure to contract testing and consumer-driven testing strategies. + Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. + Excellent command of both spoken and written English. **What’s in it for you** ✔ New beginnings can be a challenge.
