This position serves as the database administrator and lead Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) developer, ensuring WYDOT stays at the forefront of best practices in transportation technology. Human Resource Contact: 307-777-4103 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level. + Analyze, Develop and Implement Complex Transportation Systems using applicable standards such as the National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation System Protocol, Traffic Management Data Dictionary, and connected vehicle standards such as IEEE 1609, SAEJ2735, and SAE J2945. + Design, document, and implement the Wyoming Travel Information Service website www.wyoroad.info to disseminate critical road/weather information to the public as well as for use by external media organizations. + Configure web cameras and video servers to upload roadway condition images to multiple servers for display on the www.wyoroad.info website. + Participate in the design and maintenance of the Wyoming Travel Information application, which is used by the Transportation Management Center (TMC) operators to report road/weather conditions. + Develop, document, and implement the processes that compose and send messages via GovDelivery to the 511 Notify text/email messaging system and WYDOT road condition social media accounts. + Participate in the design and maintenance of the Wyoming Travel Authorization Program (W-TAP) application system, which allows the public to apply to receive permission to travel on a closed road if it is safe to do so. + Develop, document, and implement static HTML pages as well as dynamic database-driven pages for use on various kiosks and smart televisions throughout the state. + Develop, document, and implement the TMC District Conditions/Environmental Sensors dynamic database pages. + Participate in the development and maintenance of the IRIS (Intelligent Roadway Information System) Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) software for TMC operations. + Participate in all phases of application development, including requirements gathering, estimating phases or tasks, building, testing, and implementing to develop complex transportation system applications. + Develop, produce, and maintain the structural design of various databases, including back-end databases for database-driven websites and mission-critical applications. + Design, develop, implement, and maintain various Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) databases running Linux operating systems. + Perform other database administration/development duties as directed based on the changing needs of the traveling public, the agency, and the GIS/ITS program. + Design and implement changes to the Wyoming Travel Information Service website www.wyoroad.info to address the addition of intelligent devices such as web cameras and RWIS (Road Weather Information Systems) as well as to provide additional resources to improve the usability for the traveling public. + Design and implement changes to the ITS inventory database as well as the Wyoming Travel Information www.wyoroad.info backend database to adjust to the changing needs of the users as well as the changing needs of the GIS/ITS program, which will assist in disseminating critical information to users and the traveling public. Qualifications PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: Preference is given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems. Preference is given to candidates with at least 8 years of experience in object-oriented design, database development, and web-based software development. **DCI Fingerprint and background check required upon hire. KNOWLEDGE: + ITS Standards and trends in the industry. + Knowledge of ITS systems engineering principles. + Database administration. + Execution of agile and conventional software development methodologies using GoF (Gang of Four) software design patterns to produce reusable and flexible software designs that embrace an ever-changing software requirements climate. + Knowledge of multiple programming languages and development platforms. + Project management training for developing comprehensive project plans, getting management buy-in, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring project progress. + Knowledge of web technologies.
