IT Systems Administrator - Washington DC

How You'll Contribute:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented IT System Administrator to manage, maintain, and support a clients organization’s IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the IT systems, including servers, networks, cloud services, and end-user support. This role is key in supporting business operations and ensuring uptime across all critical systems.

What You'll Do:

1. System Administration

Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux). Monitor system performance and ensure availability and reliability. Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.

2. Network and Infrastructure Support

Support LAN/WAN infrastructure, firewalls, VPNs, switches, and wireless networks. Ensure network security by implementing appropriate policies and tools. Monitor and troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues.

3. Cloud and SaaS Management

Manage cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, or Google Workspace. Oversee cloud backups, email systems, and identity access management (IAM). Assist in migrations and cloud optimization efforts.

4. Security and Compliance

Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures to protect data and systems. Perform system audits and ensure compliance with IT policies and industry standards. Assist in managing antivirus, patch management, and endpoint protection solutions.

5. Technical Support & Maintenance

Provide tier 2/3 support to internal users and escalate complex issues as needed. Monitor ticket queues, document resolutions, and maintain knowledge base articles. Maintain inventory of IT assets and coordinate hardware lifecycle management.

6. Backup and Disaster Recovery

Manage backup systems and ensure regular data backups and restorations. Maintain and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

What You'll Bring:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

5-8 years of system administration or related IT experience. Experience with enterprise IT environments and support.

Technical/Skills:

Proficient in Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, PowerShell. Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms. Familiarity with networking protocols and equipment (TCP/IP, VLANs, Firewalls, etc.). Extremely experienced with Microsoft – Sharepoint/O365/Outlook/ Devops Comfortable with cloud tools: Microsoft 365, Azure AD, AWS, etc. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Creating best practices documentations and standard operation procedures Tanium/CrowdStrike experience Zscaler experience Vsphere experience Sw experience Understanding of UEM, specifically Intune Establish back up protocols, knowledge of Veeam Knowledge of Fresh Service ticketing system Windows and Apple product device management experience Previous help desk experience with Asset management tools, specifically Jamf Strong Trouble shooting skills Attention to details Strong leadership Experienced soft skills Strong written communication

Certifications (Preferred):

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate CompTIA Network+ / Security+ Cisco CCNA VMware VCP ITIL Foundation
