We work collaboratively within and between units to offer comprehensive support on policies, systems, technology, communications, finances, events, and HR in the division. The Office of International Programs ( OIP )fosters cross-cultural understanding through high-impact learning and community engagement in support of CSU’s land grant mission. International Programs supports campus internationalization by: + Encouraging students, staff, and faculty to experience and understand diverse cultures and themselves through international experiences. + Organizing classroom-based, programmatic, and experiential activities, both on campus and abroad, to provide CSU and broader communities with meaningful international and intercultural educational experiences. + Promoting CSU’s unique opportunities to international audiences, offering personalized enrollment guidance and support. + Providing quality English language instruction, intercultural learning experiences, and support services for those interested in personal, professional, or academic growth through a variety of innovative programs and opportunities. + Providing comprehensive advising, programming, and immigration services to support international students from arrival through graduation (and beyond) to ensure success in every aspect of their educational journey. + Providing comprehensive support for J-1 scholars and offering employment-based immigration services to support departments hiring international faculty and staff. + Supporting the international activities of CSU colleges, departments, and faculty by facilitating joint research initiatives, international exchanges, and other collaborative activities worldwide. OIP is led by the Vice Provost for International Affairs and consists of approximately 60 team members and faculty in six units: International Student and Scholar Services ( ISSS ), the International Enrollment Center ( IEC ), Programs for Learning Academic and Community English ( PLACE ), Education Abroad (EA), the CSU Todos Santos Center, and Operations. The division is continually innovating and expanding the programs and services it offers CSU students, faculty, staff, and partners. Position Summary The IT Support Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the success and efficiency of the International Programs team by ensuring effective use of office technology. This position works closely with all team members to provide high-quality group training and individualized instruction, enabling staff to feel confident and proficient with software applications and computer equipment. Through proactive system maintenance and thorough testing, the IT Support Specialist ensures that technology functions reliably and efficiently. When issues arise, the IT Support Specialist provides prompt, courteous, and solutions-oriented support, helping to transform complex or unfamiliar technologies into accessible and empowering tools that enhance the work of each unit. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal team members, campus partners, IT professionals across the University, software and hardware vendors, and national user groups. The IT Support Specialist contributes to a collaborative, forward-thinking environment where technology is leveraged to support the global mission of International Programs. This is an administrative professional position reporting to the Assistant Director for Data and Systems Resources. Required Job Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related fieldORany bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of full-time professional computer support experience + Demonstrated experience and knowledge with configuring and maintaining Microsoft Windows and Apple’s OSX -based computers in a networked environment + Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with constituents who have a wide range of technical knowledge and ability, including non-technical users + Willingness and ability to bend and lift up to 25 pounds and to occasionally work after hours or on the weekend + The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date. International Programs cannot sponsor a visa for this position. Preferred Job Qualifications + Experience providing desktop computer support in an academic environment + Working knowledge of iOS and/or Android-based devices + Experience troubleshooting Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, PowerPoint, OneDrive) in a cloud-based enterprise or education environment. + Experience with data management software + Experience with web design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Dreamweaver, etc. + Experience developing and delivering training to small and large groups + Professional work experience providing customer service + Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member Essential Duties Job Duty CategoryTechnical Support Duty/Responsibility + Provide desktop and laptop computer hardware/software installation and support, including Apple computers, to ensure professional and student team members have functioning desktop and laptop computers. + Provide support for iOS and Android-based devices for team members and be the point of contact for all CSU contracted phones to ensure they have access to OIP resources. + Research evolving technical needs of the office and recommend/coordinate upgrades and/or innovations, including virus detection and removal. + Maintain expertise in the use of all software used by OIP , and support team members when they have trouble using it. + Provide audio-visual support for presentations. + Assist with webpage updates and maintenance. + Keep current with the latest technologies. Training will be both on an individual basis and in large groups. + Develop videos, documents, and other reference materials as a resource for training team members and other stakeholders on office procedures. + Stay up-to-date on new software features and updates and effectively communicate any upgrades or changes to team members.
