Job Description & Summary

At PwC, our people in people operations primarily focus on managing the people lifecycle and the day-to-day operational tasks related to managing employees. This includes activities such as employee onboarding, offboarding, payroll and benefits administration, absence management, employee record-keeping, compliance with labour laws and regulations, and managing employee inquiries and issues. These individuals enable HR processes and systems to run smoothly in order to efficiently support our workforce.

Those in benefits at PwC will focus on managing and administering employee benefits programmes. You will enable employees to receive the benefits they are entitled to and that the company remains compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

Your role is crucial in driving business growth, shaping the direction of client engagements, and mentoring the next generation of leaders. Demonstrates executive-level abilities, and/or a proven record of success, with directing efforts in relation to benefits at a national level, preferably with a professional services firm or a tech startup. Extensive experience in managing teams and conceiving the policies and protocols necessary for benefit plan administration to accomplish key objectives, including the following areas:

Developing strategic priorities to drive and support a wide range of firm-wide employee benefit programs impacting initiatives within the constraints of schedule, budget and scope; 

Acting in an advisory capacity to internal stakeholders on regulatory requirements and changes; 

Coordinating with in-country HR contacts and external vendors so that the program documents are accurately maintained and are in compliance with local and national regulations and internal governance guidelines; 

Extensive knowledge and specialization of ERISA, Section 125, COBRA, HIPAA, PPACA and other benefit laws and regulations;

Comprehensive knowledge of typical employee benefits offerings in the US, including deep understanding and awareness of legislation and regulations associated with employee benefits;

Extensive knowledge and specialization of employee leave requirements on federal, state, and local levels;  

Subject matter specialist in assigned plans/programs to ensure compliance with plan/program rules and legal requirements, while confirming state regulations interplay and compliance with federal regulations, and multiple types of leaves (Disability, Family Medical, Parental, Military, etc.);

Strong ability to manage multiple relationships with external vendors, including ability to initiate critical, assertive conversations with vendors concerning performance and conduct;

Successful management of RFPs from initiation to implementation as well as familiarity with system integrations and downstream impacts to vendors;

Extensive contacts and relationships with US providers across all elements of employee benefits;

Fiduciary responsibilities for a stand alone entity;

Demonstrated success creating new benefit programs and continually striving to do things better than the status quo. You are intellectually curious with an ability to work with a high degree of autonomy through ambiguous circumstances;

Oversee and manage our company's employee benefits programs, while also being involved in the day-to-day administration and operations;

Conduct periodic reviews and audits of benefit plans to maximize value and cost savings;

Identify benefit trends to keep plans competitive and up to date;

Understand, interpret, and effectively communicate benefit plan provisions, policies, programs, process, and practice as the escalation point;

Proven track record of managing a team including coaching, mentoring and developing staff; 

Demonstrating customer focus, attention to detail, independent decision making, self motivation and work ethic with proven track record of exercising sound judgment; 

Possessing and displaying verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, focused and concise manner; 

Excellent project management skills with a proven ability to design workable solutions, manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritize workloads, meet deadlines and drive projects to successful implementation; and 

Demonstrating proficiency in Google and MS Office applications.
