Role Summary We’re looking for a hands-on and motivated Network Engineer to support both day-to-day factory network operations and project-based implementations. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow your skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where uptime, reliability, and scalability are critical. You’ll help maintain and troubleshoot existing network infrastructure across factory floors and data centers, while also contributing to the deployment of new connectivity for production lines, equipment installations, and factory expansions. You’ll gain exposure to structured cabling, switch deployments, wireless coverage planning, and assist with projects involving on-premises data centers that support industrial applications and local compute. From supporting project deployments to helping with rack-and-stack work and fiber patching, this role provides a strong foundation in networking. It’s ideal for someone early in their networking career who’s eager to learn from senior engineers and contribute to building the backbone of a modern smart factory. This position will be located in Normal, IL and report to our Manager of Network Engineering Responsibilities Support both day-to-day network operations and ongoing project work across the factory environment Assist with the configuration and maintenance of network switches, wireless access points, and routers Participate in the design and deployment of network infrastructure for new production lines, including port provisioning, switch firmware upgrades, switch Help troubleshoot connectivity issues for production equipment and end devices across wired and wireless networks Assist with rack-and-stack of switches, patch panel work, and cable management in IDFs, MDFs and Data Center Conduct basic Wi-Fi testing, coverage checks, and support wireless deployments on the production floor Access production floor IDFs using a scissor lift for troubleshooting or installation of switches as needed (training provided) Maintain accurate documentation including network drawings, cabling layouts, and equipment inventories Collaborate with IT, Manufacturing Engineering, and Facilities teams to ensure network readiness during line moves, expansions, and factory upgrades Follow established security standards, change control procedures, and physical infrastructure best practices Maintain cleanliness and cable management standards in IDF/MDF and telecom rooms Participate in on-call rotation Occasional travel to different factories/locations may be required Qualifications Associate or bachelor’s degree in Information technology, Computer Networking, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience) 1–3 years of experience in IT/network support or help desk roles with networking responsibilities Basic understanding of: IP addressing, subnetting, and VLANs Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing concepts Common protocols: DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP Familiarity with enterprise switches, wireless APs, or firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo alto, Juniper, etc.) Comfortable using hand tools, crimpers, testers, and working in IDF/MDF spaces Willingness to work in industrial environments (factory production floor) Strong desire to learn and grow in the field of network engineering Self-motivated individual with good analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills. Team-oriented mindset with a proactive attitude. Pay Disclosure Salary Range: USD - $78,200 - $97,700 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
