POSITION: IT Manager at Duke Energy Convention Center

THE ROLE 

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive IT Manager to oversee and manage the integration, performance, and maintenance of critical infrastructure systems including CCTV surveillance, HVAC controls, smart lighting systems, digital signage platforms, and telecom systems. This role bridges IT and Facilities, ensuring all systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Limited supervisory responsibilities for employees and interns in the IT department. 

Collaborates with the Director of Operations on IT budgets. 

CCTV Systems Management 

Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of CCTV systems. 

Ensure video surveillance systems are secure, operational, and compliant with data privacy regulations. 

Manage storage, retrieval, and archiving of video footage. 

HVAC Systems Oversight 

Collaborate with facilities and vendors to manage HVAC control systems (e.g., BMS/BAS). 

Monitor system performance and troubleshoot connectivity or automation issues. 

Ensure HVAC systems are integrated with IT infrastructure for remote monitoring and control. 

Lighting Systems Management 

Manage smart lighting systems including scheduling, automation, and energy efficiency. 

Ensure lighting systems are networked securely and function reliably. 

Coordinate with electrical and facilities teams for upgrades and maintenance. 

Digital Signage Platform Management 

Administer and maintain digital signage systems across the organization. 

Manage content scheduling, deployment, and system updates. 

Ensure signage platforms are secure, scalable, and integrated with network infrastructure. 

Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to support messaging and branding initiatives. 

Telecom Systems Management 

Oversee the organization’s telecom infrastructure including VoIP, PBX, mobile, and unified communications platforms. 

Ensure reliable connectivity, call quality, and system uptime. 

Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and telecom billing. 

Support telecom-related troubleshooting, upgrades, and integration with other IT systems. 

Support Internal Users 

Provide technical support to internal users across departments. 

Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues. 

Ensure timely resolution of IT support tickets and maintain user satisfaction. 

Conduct training sessions and create documentation to assist users with IT systems. 

IT Infrastructure & Security 

Ensure all systems are integrated into the organization’s IT network securely. 

Implement cybersecurity best practices for all connected infrastructure. 

Maintain documentation, network diagrams, and system configurations. 

Vendor & Project Management 

Coordinate with third-party vendors for system upgrades, maintenance, and support. 

Lead infrastructure projects from planning through execution and post-implementation review. 

Monitoring & Reporting 

Develop and maintain dashboards for system health and performance. 

Provide regular reports to leadership on system uptime, incidents, and improvements. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience           

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. 

5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or systems management. 

Hands-on experience with CCTV, HVAC control systems, smart lighting, digital signage, telecom technologies, and user support. 

Strong understanding of networking, cybersecurity, and system integration. 

Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and project management skills. 

Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. 

Skills and Abilities 

Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required. 

Ability to prioritize multiple projects. 

Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic. 

Working knowledge of Momentus a plus 

Ability to work under limited supervision and to interact with all levels of staff including management. 

Preferred Certifications 

CompTIA Network+ / Security+ 

Cisco CCNA or equivalent 

Building Automation Systems (BAS) certification 

Telecom certifications (e.g., Avaya, Cisco Collaboration, VoIP) 

Project Management (PMP or similar)
