IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), Position Description Number T5895000 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, National Guard. Responsibilities As an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-12, you will serve as Information System Security Officer (ISSO), ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified information systems, networks and data through the enhancement of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools. Enhancement of information systems security programs, procedures, and tools are specifically accomplished by conducting vulnerability assessments and ensuring all protection needs are met Perform other duties as assigned. This position is located in an Air National Guard (ANG) Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience includes: Knowledge of and skill in applying methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating Information Technology (IT) security tool and procedures; Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) Infrastructure; IT security certification and accreditation requirements; network operations and protocols; and computer forensics principles. Develop, implement, and coordinating activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities; monitor an evaluate systems: compliance with IT security requirements; provide advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems; and ensure proper protection of evidence used in investigating computer crimes. Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position. Education Additional Information The position under this announcement is being filled using the National Guard Accelerated Hiring Authority (NG AHA). Selection will be made through a process without applying traditional competitive rating and ranking procedures and where interviews are optional. Merit factors shall be the basis for selection. Merit factors are determined by the individuals' ability to perform the duties of the position. Merit is based on such factors as previous work experience, education, abilities, and competencies. In order to be referred, applicant must meet all general, specialized and education requirements of the position.
