Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled IT Analyst Technical Infrastructure (IT Applications Analyst) to join PLM NPI -CAT IT Division

The Incumbent would require proficiency in developing and supporting customized engineering application solutions. You will work both independently and with a cooperative team on complex projects that span engineering applications. You will contribute real value by developing, integrating, and/or supporting Caterpillar applications.

The preference for this role is to be based out of Whitefield PSN Office, Bangalore, India

What you will do

Works directly on application/technical problem identification and resolutionPerforms all duties without close supervision. However, more complex assignments may require closer supervision and assistance.Demonstrates strong communication skills and confidently engages with customers to discuss and clarify requirements.Works independently on complex projects that may span multiple functional areas.Under the direction of more senior staff, assists in the development of major application modules and programs.Participates in integrated testing and user acceptance of application and system components.Fully knowledgeable of programming languages appropriate to the platform supported, program design and specification development, programming logic, logic diagrams, basic system analysis techniques, testing, debugging, documentation standards, file design, storage, and internal systems.Designs and implement processes, or process improvements, to aid in development and support.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer scienceTechnical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.Technology Advising: Knowledge of effective advisory methods and ability to provide valued information and advice to clients regarding products, technologies, services and solutions for a specific technology domain.Hardware Infrastructure: Knowledge of computer architecture and systems programming; ability to design, build and integrate IT hardware into multi-platforms for the organization.Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.System Testing: Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.Technical Writing/Documentation: Knowledge of technical writing; ability to write technical documents such as manuals, reports, guidelines or documents on standards, processes and applications.This position requires candidate to work a 5-day -a -week schedule in the office

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

Proficient in C++ programmingExperience customizing CAD software packages (e.g. Creo, etc.)Experience implementing software solutions utilizing 3rd party API’s (e.g. Pro-toolkit)Experience with source code management tools (e.g. SVN, Git, etc.)Experience using Visual Studio, Eclipse, and other development environments.Systems Software Infrastructure: Knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols, compilers and other development tools.

• Executes test cases, analyzes test results and reports on findings regularly.
• Tests system components for compliance with functional requirements.
• Participates in the testing of a system's ability to recover from hardware or software failures.

Systems Software Infrastructure: Knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols, compilers and other development tools.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Reports software connectivity and integration issues.
• Demonstrates planned software changes on the local environment.
• Administers software migration and contingency plans related to own function.
• Analyzes the local software architecture components and products.
• Tests key features for the entire software infrastructure environment.
