Island Restoration Decision Support Specialist

The decision support specialist will join a NASA-funded project overseen by Dr. Bradley Cosentino, in collaboration with Island Conservation. The general goals of the project are to examine ecosystem impacts of invasive mammal removal on islands with remotely sensed data and develop a decisionsupport tool that can be used by stakeholders to assist with restoration efforts. The specialist’s responsibilities will be to: 1) engage with stakeholders to apply the decision-support tool to guide decision making about invasive species removals, vegetation monitoring, and restoration actions; 2) gather feedback from end-users to improve the decision-support tool usability and relevance, develop training materials, and quantify the impact of the decision-support tool; 3) lead science communication efforts, including developing impact-based storytelling products that highlight the implications of using remote sensing-based structured decision-making for biodiversity and ecosystem resilience; and 4) implement existing time series modeling frameworks to generate inputs for the decision-support tool.
This is a remote position with a 12-month appointment. Compensation is $63,426.09 annual salary with benefits.

Required qualifications:
• PhD or Masters in ecology or related field
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with domestic and international partners
• Demonstrated experience in science communication and stakeholder engagement
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and programming in R
• Strong writing skills and record of publishing research
Desirable qualifications:
• Experience with structured decision-making in natural resource management contexts
• Experience with visual storytelling and communication design (e.g., videos, infographics, interactive dashboards, web-based case studies)
• Experience analyzing remotely sensed vegetation data or ecological data in the context of invasion biology or restoration ecology
