ABB is evolving its regional IS PMO organization to drive harmonization and consistency in the value delivery of IS-lead business projects, by bringing significant focus on standardizing and modernizing the project delivery methodologies.
As IS Department Manager for the PMO, you will have the opportunity to work in a high-paced, international environment, solve complex problems, participate in building IS solution capability and grow together with the rapidly developing business.
Core Job Responsibilities
Manage portfolio fit workflow assessment for projects with project manager assignment duties; within all project management tools (local and global)Assess fit for resource capability assignments vs need in the project manager team for new demand requirementsProvide oversight and assessment for project data quality in all project management tools, local and global; organize individual IS owners to ensure good data quality standardsEnsure successful delivery of the IS project; closely collaborating with the business project manager on overall project success and all required project documentationPlan, schedule, coordinate, and deliver the IS project outcomes to time, scope, cost and qualityMonitor and control project financials, including oversight of budget consumption and project invoicingProvide external contractor/consultant engagement management in terms of ensuring execution of the agreed delivery proposal; inclusive of ensuring contract and claims management is in accordance with contractual agreementsEnsure appropriate IS Project Management standards, methods and processes are followed in individually owned projects and in all projects in execution across the central servicesProactively work with IS and business leadership to establish project management plans (plan projects, objectives, value/benefits, scope, timeline, resources, cost, and risks) for assigned projectsEnsure consistent project communications, including formal project status reporting on performance against plan and expected business outcomesProactively manage project issues and scope changes to minimize the impact on the comprehensive portfolio execution planActively seek to find and manage interdependencies between projects, ensuring proactive collaboration between the projects as well as proactive engagement and management of global and local project participants and stakeholdersAdeptly identify and manage project risks, ensuring appropriate risk mitigation plans are in place and schedules are managed according to the risk conditionsIn conjunction with PG’s global IS service delivery model, collaborate with Workforce and Service Managers to ensure successful delivery of assigned projectsLiaison with the IS Run organization to ensure timely planning and engagement of hand over to operations as a part of the overall project planFacilitate project close out, including value delivery assessments and capture of key lessons learnedQualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Business, Engineering, Computer Science or related field.8+ years of IS project management experience with increasing complexity, budget and business risk level5+ years of proven track record of managing virtual teamsPMP® certification or similarPreferred qualifications:
Experience as a manager of Project Managers; project manager of large multi-integration system implementations and/or implementation experience of cloud applications (SaaS or on-prem) providing oversight to multiple ongoing initiatives at once;Experience in Agile Project and Portfolio management environments;Experience developing funding proposals for potential projects, including formal business cases and executive presentations to summarize proposalsGood organization, time management and decision-making skillsStrong negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills; ability to negotiate resolution of controversial issues with businesses and 3rd party suppliersDemonstrated customer focus with the ability to build effective working relationships with all stakeholdersDemonstrated leadership/management competenciesKnowledge on application development processes, including thorough knowledge of IT service management conceptsStrong ability to communicate effectively with local, global and cross-divisional virtual teamsExceptional team player and collaboratorConsistently acknowledges and appreciates each project team member's contributionsEffectively utilizes each project team member to his/her fullest potentialMotivates team to work together in the most efficient mannerKeeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team membersMitigates project team conflictAbility to delegate to team and manage them to achieve desired outputStrong analytical skills and attention to detail / detail-orientedExperience working in technical or testing roles within ISExperience in environments that leverage formal software development methodologiesUnderstanding of how to drive organizational change managementProficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and PowerPointExperience using Microsoft Project, Planview or similar project management toolsFluent spoken and written EnglishProject related travel may be required during certain project phases; up to 30%Strong Business AcumenWhy ABB?
