Ireland Direct Tax Junior Manager
**Job Description :** **Job Title : Ireland Direct Tax Junior Manager** **Location: Budapest** **Contract: permanent** **About the role** The purpose of this role is to ensure that the direct tax processes for Ireland are undertaken accurately, efficiently (using automation and outsourcing where applicable) and on time and the surrounding internal control procedures and legislative requirements are closely adhered to. **Job Dimensions** **The areas of the business you will support and who you will work with:** + The Diageo Ireland Group is a premium drinks business and one of the largest and best-performing drink exporters in Ireland. Diageo in Irelands consists of over ten legal entities, including the main trading entities Diageo Ireland and R&A Bailey & Co. + The Ireland Direct Tax Junior Manager role will be based in Budapest and will work with the Senior Tax Manager for Ireland while reporting to Head of Tax Compliance. This role has no direct reports. _Key Interactions:_ + Tax Business Partners and Tax Governance team, to coordinate within the team that standardised processes and controls are operated, and legislative changes are followed up regularly and embedded in training materials. + _Tax Compliance, Reporting teams_ - Collaborate to provide high quality, timely tax activities and outcomes to the business + Finance Business partners and operational teams (including FD and FC) _together with other senior members of the broader Irish business_ - Develop and maintain a strong working relationship and keeping up to date with business priorities and developments, act as a trusted business advisor in order to challenge and support the market in improving overall tax management + Irish Tax Authority - Contribute to the management of the Collaborative Compliance Framework relationship and discussions with the Irish tax authority on tax audits or tax enquiries + External Advisors - Support the relationship with external tax advisors and hold them to account for the delivery of timely and cost effective tax services **Role Responsibilities** ·Handle Irish corporate tax compliance processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation, review, and submission of tax returns and related filings. ·Prepare and/or review tax provisions and disclosures for statutory financial statements, including current and deferred tax calculations. ·Coordinate with Tax, Finance, and external advisors to ensure tax positions and assumptions are appropriately reflected and documented. ·Support tax audits and Irish Tax Authority queries, ensuring accurate responses and maintenance of audit-ready documentation. ·Supervise and handle tax compliance risks, maintaining appropriate controls, documentation, and process governance. ·Drive standardization and efficiency within tax compliance processes, ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements. ·Assist with the implementation of tax policy changes, new reporting requirements or process improvements as required. ·Give to the development and upskilling of more junior team members, acting as a reviewer and subject matter resource. ·Promote a strong compliance culture, embedding ethics, transparency, and accountability in all tax-related activities. ·Build strong collaborative relationship with Senior Tax Manager – Ireland. **What you'll bring** + Strong corporate tax compliance experience, ideally across multiple jurisdictions (Irish experience is an advantage but not essential). + Solid tax accounting and reporting skills, including preparation and review of current and deferred tax calculations. + Experience working in a shared services or process-driven environment, with comfort around SOPs, tight deadlines, and collaboration across functions. + Proven track record to coordinate with tax, finance, and external advisors, with strong communication and stakeholder leadership skills. + Hands-on experience managing or supporting tax audits. + Broad understanding of key domestic and international tax issues, with international tax experience considered an advantage. + Demonstrated ability to apply tax technical knowledge to the commercial and operational context of the business. + Sound judgement in evaluating and handling acceptable levels of tax risk. + Effective project management skills, with a track record of successful implementation. + Strong team player, able to communicate and collaborate optimally across functions and diverse cultures. + Adaptable and capable of applying global tax policies across multiple jurisdictions. + Proactive in identifying, assessing, and handling tax risk. + Committed to embedding a strong compliance and ethics culture within tax operations. **Flexible Working Statement:** Flexibility is key to our success.
