The Investigative Reporter/Producer has the ability to mine information from an array of sources and turn reporting into compelling visual products for multiple platforms. The investigative reporter/producer must be a self-starter, an enthusiastic employee with deep curiosity, able to work well on a team. The main responsibilities of this role includes all aspects of story research, newsgathering, reporting and writing. The producer is expected to be able to turn complex stories into compelling video stories using graphics, animations, and field shoots, often working on multiple projects simultaneously. They will research and secure interviews with individuals and sources who will offer a unique perspective and drive the story, pre-interview possible characters, develop creative ideas for storytelling, confirm facts and gather appropriate photos, documents, and other appropriate research for production elements. Other responsibilities include identifying, researching and locating video clips and sound bites (both internally and through external sources like social media,) and conceiving creative, dynamic graphics. Open-source investigative skills, such as deep research of websites, geolocation, identifying and vetting social media videos, etc. are necessary, as is a sharp reporter’s instinct for developing sources and mining information from various platforms. They will research and secure interviews with individuals and sources who will offer a unique perspective and drive the story, pre-interview possible characters, develop creative ideas for storytelling, confirm facts and gather appropriate photos, documents, and other appropriate research for production elements. Other responsibilities include identifying, researching and locating video clips and sound bites (both internally and through external sources like social media,) and conceiving creative, dynamic graphics. They will also be responsible for field assignment logistics, such as determining locations, performing virtual site surveys, securing permissions needed, and can be sent on shoots to gather interviews or video. The Producer may also assist Investigative Senior Producers, Investigative Senior Writers and Investigative Correspondents on video and written projects, as well as run their own projects **Your Role Accountabilities…** + Create compelling video journalism for digital and linear platforms + Develop and execute story ideas from idea to publication + Work on multiple projects at once + Reporting out investigative stories that meet the network’s needs + Use multiple skills to seek out answers + Open sources, human sources, data, government documents, court records, etc. + Able to confirm veracity of video from outside sources + Develop and execute stories or digital video investigations from start to finish including pre- and post-production. + Assist in or write text stories for publishing on CNN’s digital platforms + Produce live segments, both in the field or in the studio or from remote network locations as needed + Knowledge of photojournalism/cameras, editing, and graphics structure a plus **Qualifications & Experience…** • Minimum of five years of production experience in the news television industry or digital video journalism, with investigative reporting experience a necessity. • Must have strong news judgment as well as written, verbal, interpersonal communication, research, and production skills. • Must have strong writing skills • Past reporting and field experience is an advantage. • BA/BS in journalism, politics or a related field preferred or equivalent in experience. **How We Get Things Done…** This last bit is probably the most important! Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $68,495.00 - $127,205.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
