RESPONSIBILITIES: + Assist with moving, unloading, and distributing materials including tables, chairs, and other equipment for program/event set up and clean up. + Maintains storage areas and safety and security of materials and supplies. + Moves, loads, and delivers equipment and materials for events and programs. + Assists with special projects such as restocking kits, inventory, mailroom management and special pickups/deliveries. + Perform clerical duties as needed. + Provides customer service both external and internal. + Performs other duties as assigned. Candidates are encouraged to submit a resume and cover letter with their application. WORKING CONDITIONS Position requires stooping and bending; lifting of library materials up to 20 pounds. Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a high school diploma or GED. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Three (3) months of inventory control, materials management, record keeping or clerical experience is required. May require experience in operating a forklift and other motorized or non-motorized materials handling equipment. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Requires a valid driver license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2). PREFERENCES **Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.** Applicant with good a driving record, ability to lift at least 50 lbs., and previous inventory management or event set up experience preferred.
