Job Summary
The Intra Operative Tech Advanced works under a Radiologist's supervision. They provide surgical guidance for procedures using advanced imaging equipment. This is done under sterile technique for patients in ambulatory or hospital settings. A physician or licensed provider requests this for diagnosing disease and injury, following established protocols.
Essential Functions of the Role
Dedicated to the Operating Room 50% of the time.Able to perform high-quality advanced intraoperative procedures using sterile technique promptly. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards.Demonstrates an understanding of radiation dose reference levels and monitoring. Takes action if the estimated dose exceeds set levels. Takes action when the reference level is exceeded, which may include patient follow-up.Able to perform procedures using advanced imaging equipment like portable diagnostic tools, 3D systems, portable fluoroscopy, intra-op CT, and Hybrid IR/OR systems.Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient and service requirements. Ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport with patients and others.Instructs and communicates with patients and their family about the test. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.Prepare the patient and area for the procedure. Position the patient and adjust immobilization devices. Move equipment into specified positions and adjust controls to set exposure factors.Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Able to operate, calibrate, document, and maintain QC records on our interoperative imaging equipment. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.Reports issues to management or appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.Obtains, verifies and maintains all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, consent forms, policies and procedures, etc.Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.Key Success Factors
Provide surgical guidance for advanced procedures like Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and 3D imaging for facial, pelvic, and spinal navigation. Handle ortho trauma procedures such as pelvic fixation, IMN of long bones, ORIF, CRPP, external fixators, and total joints (ankle, hips, shoulder, etc.). Conduct spinal exams for scoliosis, odontoid screw, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, SI fusion, and dorsal column stimulator procedures. Perform post-processing using 3D imaging, DSA road-mapping, cine, and reconstruction of exams like cerebral and peripheral angiograms, thrombectomies, ECMO, Impella, and laser-guided removal of pacemaker leads. Manage TAVR, stroke, pacemaker/defibrillator placement, and hybrid vascular suites (bi-plane and single plane). Handle AAA, aortic grafts, fistulagrams, IVC filter placement/retrieval, thrombolytic catheter placement, and needle guidance.Explain the procedure and put patients at ease. Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when required.Able to perform tasks autonomously without routine oversight. Maintains a calm and helpful attitude, even under stress. Takes appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues.Able to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric care.
