Job Summary

The Department of Recreational Services is seeking students for part-time intramural official positions. Officials will facilitate a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for all program participants. There will be opportunities to officiate season long sports, tournaments, and help with special events. No officiating experience needed. Training will be provided for the various sports we offer. Shifts will take place on weekday evenings, during the fall and winter semesters. 

Responsibilities*Enforce rules and regulations for intramural sporting events Check in participants on scorecard and verifying eligibility statusAccurately record scores, fouls, and sportsmanship ratingsEnsure a high level of sportsmanship at all timesSet up and break down of activity area when neededDevelop and maintain knowledge of rules and regulations for each sportAttend required meetings and trainingsRequired Qualifications*Current UM-Flint StudentBasic understanding of various sportsEagerness to learn and grow within recreational sportsDesired Qualifications*Previous playing, officiating or coaching experienceCertified MHSAA official in Football, Basketball, Soccer, or Volleyball Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
