Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will interpret/transliterate in a variety of communication modes for command-wide work-related events such as special programs, formal conferences, all hands meetings, performance appraisals, counselling sessions, award ceremonies, etc. You will determine the needs for interpreter services and schedule time according to customer requirements. You will interpret discussions, so all parties involved are able to accurately communicate. You will use a wide range of technical and nontechnical vocabulary to produce grammatically correct translations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Interpreting in a variety of communication modes for work related events; 2) Adopting to accents and regional differences in both English and American Sign Language (ASL); 3) Coordinating all interpreting service requests and creating schedules according to customer requirements; 4) Developing and conducting training on deaf culture and related issues for supervisors, managers, counselors and employees; 5) Assisting in the identification of barriers and the resolution of difficult communication problems between supervisors and deaf/hh employees. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
