Internship in Peptide Chemistry (all genders) 

 

 

We are a dynamic, motivated and diverse team and are looking for a bright, energetic student to join our team. The Peptide Discovery Lab (PDL) aims to develop new, innovative peptide-based therapeutics and tools. For this purpose, we use several technologies that we constantly develop further: structure-based design, various screening methods for lead generation (internal and external), automation & digitization of the peptideplatform, computational design/modeling, bioconjugation & classical medicinal chemistry. We collaborate closely across Bayer Research & Development as well as with external partners to develop new therapies for patients.

YOUR TASKS AND EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

 

Design and synthesis of complex peptides, peptide conjugates, glycopeptides and/or peptidomimetics on solid support or in solutionDevelop and optimize synthetic methodology in peptide chemistry to benefit ongoing and future projectsSupport our lab automation by establishing and optimizing workflows

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

You are a currently enrolled passionate scientist close to completing a master’s degree or in a gap year prior to starting a PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or related disciplineYou are motivated, driven, curious and have a keen interest in broadening your scientific knowledgeIdeally, you have knowledge and hands-on experience in peptide synthesis and have further experience in at least one additional field, such as:Design and synthesis of peptide conjugates, glycopeptides or peptidomimeticsOrganic synthesisScreening technologies such as phage display or mRNA display(LC)MS or proteomicsYou possess good communication skills and are quick in finding your place in new environmentsYou are fluent in English, both written and spoken; German is a plus
