We're seeking someone to join our International Tax Compliance, Planning and Provision team as an International Tax Director in Tax Department to support with US income tax compliance, planning, accounting and reporting.
In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm's financial and capital resources. This is a Director level position within the Tax & Advisory Job Family which ensures compliance with income and indirect tax filings, reports tax information for the Firm’s regulatory filings, manages the Firm’s global tax authority relationships, including tax controversy, and monitors relevant tax regulations and legislation. Additional responsibilities include managing the Firm’s domestic and international tax strategies, determining the Firm’s transfer pricing policies and advising Senior Management and BUs on business products, strategic transactions and restructuring objectives.

What you'll do in the role:
- Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm
- Responsible for and lead aspects of individual and team deliverables and projects, leveraging in-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segments
- Adhere to the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls; proactively identify ways to reduce risk in work
- Act as a culture carrier; embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards
- - Manage and enhance the preparation of the foreign tax credit analysis
- Manage compliance related issues for a portion of Morgan Stanley's foreign subsidiaries, including the review of Form 5471, 8865, and/or 8858
- Prepare quarterly analysis for the assigned entities for tax provision purposes and to reflect current planning scenarios under consideration and capturing any significant U.S. tax accounting adjustments
- Analyze income tax accounting impact of transactions
- Review of uncertain tax positions under FIN 48
- Ensure that any tax law changes or structural changes are appropriately incorporated into computations and reporting
- Assist in U.S. tax audit related matters
Assistance with other compliance, planning, process improvements and special projects on an as needed basis are also part of the role's responsibilities
What you'll bring to the role:
- In-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment and technical skills, as well as of industry and competitive environment
- Ability to operate independently with respect to most job responsibilities
- Ability to provide positive and constructive feedback and innovate processes
- Bachelor's degree in accounting; Masters in taxation and CPA preferred
- 4-6 years of hands-on experience in ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes and international tax compliance
- Financial services background preferred
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel across a global workforce
- Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
- Superior work ethic with high level of accountability
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $155,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
