The Opportunity

You will provide a high level of occupational therapy services such as ADL assessments, seating and mobility, fall prevention, splinting, skin integrity and dysphagia. In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, you will participate in the admission/discharge process by completing assessments of residents and developing care and treatment plans. You will reassess, evaluate and modify interventions as needed and communicate changes in resident condition or care to appropriate decision makers and team members. Other duties may include supervision of therapeutic support staff, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and participation in policy revision and development.

You have a recognized degree in occupational therapy and active registration with the provincial regulatory college. Experience in a leadership role is preferred. Experience working with the frail elderly is preferred.

You have excellent interpersonal skills and can work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team to promote the well-being of the resident. You are able to use your leadership skills to motivate and coach staff, manage conflict, and take decisive action where appropriate. Strong observational and reporting skills are necessary to assess, document and communicate changes in residents’ conditions. You are a skilled communicator who can advocate for residents, relay concerns among team members and families, solicit feedback and make recommendations. Time management skills are essential as is flexibility to change routine to accommodate resident needs. You must be physically capable of performing lifts, transfers and other physical activities as required by job duties.

Requirements:
