Position Summary
The Internal Control & Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the organization meets its corporate governance, internal audit, and risk management obligations. This position is responsible for evaluating and strengthening internal controls & processes, identifying operational and financial risks, and driving compliance across business functions. The role involves conducting in-depth reviews of business processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and navigating complex systems to enhance internal procedures and promote operational efficiency
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the planning and execution of internal control requirements across multiple departments.Conduct comprehensive reviews of business processes to identify inefficiencies, risks, and control weaknesses.Develop and maintain step-by-step internal control process documentation for all departments.Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend actionable risk mitigation strategies.Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement effective risk management initiatives.Perform post implementation control Self-Assessment (CSA) walkthroughs to evaluate control design and operational effectiveness.Assist the Financial Controller and project lead in preparing progress report and presenting key findings to senior leadership.Monitor adherence to internal policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of audit activities, findings, and follow-up actions.Contribute to the development and enhancement of audit tools, templates, and methodologies.Stay current with industry’s best practices and regulatory developments relevant to internal audit and compliance.Qualifications & ExperienceTertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance (risk and compliance), Business, or a related field.3–5 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, or a related compliance role.Strong understanding of risk management and internal control frameworks.Experience working with complex systems and data analysis tools.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Desirable AttributesCPA or progressing towards CPA or CA certification.Experience in the manufacturing industry.Familiarity with audit software or ERP systems (e.g., Sage).
