Internal Auditor

As an Internal Auditor, you will lead multiple concurrent audits to evaluate the establishment and adherence to firm policy and procedure, regulatory compliance, and the effectiveness of internal controls in addressing and mitigating risks in Baird’s business units and corporate resource departments. In addition, you will perform agile reviews and participate in consulting projects pertaining to various firm initiatives. A successful candidate executes audit projects, assesses risk, identifies weaknesses and vulnerabilities, provides recommendations, and builds strong relationships across all levels within Baird. Serving as an internal auditor, this key role provides visibility and influence into all areas of the Baird business with the opportunity to greatly impact firm success. 

As an Internal Auditor, you will:

Work with all levels within the firm, engage with process owners and leaders to gain understanding of their business.  

Develop process narratives or flows, audit programs, walkthroughs, and test procedures for assigned projects.  

Utilize audit management best practices and data analytics to work through audit and project lifecycles, run reports, create dashboards, and document trends.  

Prepare audit reports that detail findings and make recommendations for remediation.

Identify and recommend best practices or process improvements.  

Maintain awareness, engagement and knowledge regarding regulations in the securities industry, industry trends and challenges, and best practices across both internal audit and our businesses.

What we look for:

Bachelor’s degree preferred but a strong combination of education and work experience equally considered.   

SIE certification or willingness to obtain within the first 12 months of employment with encouragement and support to pursue the Series 7 thereafter.

A critical thinker with a high degree of curiosity, tenacity and attention to detail.

Financial services or customer service experience a plus.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently lead meetings, ask probing questions and influence internal clients across all levels of the firm.

Technically savvy with above average skills in Excel, Visio, and other MS Office products. Experience with analytics software (SQL, Microsoft Power BI) a plus.
