SCOPE OF POSITION:
The scope of the position should include a general idea of what the project(s) the intern will be involved in throughout their ten weeks. It can also include the benefit of the internship to the intern.
The scope of a Quality Assurance (QA) Intern typically covers below responsibilities and learning opportunities within the field of software testing and quality assurance. During the internship, the intern will be responsible for working on assigned projects and will follow the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) from start to finish.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Understanding Requirements - Review project documentation, such as functional specifications and user stories, to understand the expected behavior of the application.
2. Creating Test Cases - Develop clear and detailed test cases based on the requirements and specifications. Each test case should include conditions, input data, execution steps, expected results, and actual results.
3. Defining Test Data - Identify the necessary test data required to execute the test cases. Ensure that test data covers a wide range of scenarios, including valid, invalid, boundary, and edge cases to thoroughly test the software.
4. Executing & Maintaining Test Cases - Once test cases are designed, the intern may also execute them, document the outcomes, and report any defects found during testing. Update and maintain test cases and test data as application features change or evolve.
5. Defect Reporting - Document and report any defects found during testing using a bug tracking tool (Jira), providing detailed information to help the development team replicate the issue.
6. Collaboration with Development Team - Work closely with developers to understand the system architecture and functionality, providing feedback and clarification on identified issues.
7. Retesting and Regression Testing - After defects are fixed, retest the affected functionalities to ensure that issues have been resolved. Conduct regression testing to verify that recent changes have not introduced new issues.
8. Test Documentation - Maintain accurate documentation of test cases executed, results, and any issues encountered during testing to support knowledge sharing and future testing.
**Qualifications**
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required / Certification required)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
Technical Skills:
* Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) – Knoweldge of various phases of SDLC
* Testing Techniques concepts – Different types of testing Functional, Regression, UAT and Performance testing etc.,
* Basic Programming Knowledge -Java, Python, or JavaScript can be beneficial for writing test scripts and understanding code.
* Basic SQL Knowledge -Understanding of SQL can be helpful for validating data in databases as part of testing.
Soft Skills:
Analytical Skills -Ability to analyze information, identify problems, and suggest solutions effectively.
Communication Skills -Strong verbal and written communication skills to document test cases and report bugs clearly to developers.
Attention to Detail - QA interns must be detail-oriented to spot inconsistencies and defects in software applications.
Teamwork - Ability to work collaboratively with other team members, including developers and project managers, to ensure quality throughout the software development process.
Adaptability - Open to learning new tools and technologies.
Certification: ISTQB, Software testing life cycle (STLC), Certified Agile tester(CAT), Certified software tester (CSTE). (Any one certification is ok but ISTQB is preferrable)
