**The Role:**
The **Intern in IT Service Delivery** is a foundational support role within the IT department, primarily responsible for the initial setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT systems and services. The Intern will collaborate with team members and contribute to the overall operational efficiency of the IT infrastructure. With a focus on customer satisfaction, the Intern plays a critical role in maintaining the day-to-day IT functions that businesses rely on.
Xylem Summer Internships typically last 10-12 weeks and are an opportunity to get hands-on, professional experience while making a lasting contribution to Xylem as an organization. Our internship program is intended to create a pipeline of talented undergraduate students who are interested in a career in the water innovation technology industry. Interns are our primary talent pool for all full-time early career positions and rotational programs. The Summer Internship is a great opportunity to learn more about Xylem and see if a career in water technology is right for you.
The hourly rate for an intern is dependent on a variety of factors including major, year in school and geographic location. The average hourly rate for an intern is between $21.00 - $27.00/hour. Locations of internships will vary based on the specified project and function, and will either be on-site, hybrid or fully remote.
**Core Responsibilities:**
_Hardware and Software Troubleshooting and Support:_
• Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues
• Providing technical support for computer systems, printers, and other peripherals
• Troubleshooting network connectivity and internet access problems
• Assisting with software installations and updates
• Responding to user inquiries and providing timely resolutions
_Installation and Configuration:_
• Setting up and configuring new computers, laptops, and mobile devices
• Installing and configuring software applications
_IT Inventory Management and Asset Tracking:_
• Keeping track of IT inventory and assets
• Updating inventory records and tracking equipment movement
• Conducting regular audits to ensure accuracy of inventory records
• Ordering and receiving new equipment and managing returns and repairs
_Documentation and Reporting:_
• Documenting technical issues and resolutions
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation for troubleshooting procedures and solutions
• Generating reports on IT performance and service delivery metrics
• Presenting reports and recommendations to management as needed
_Remote and Onsite Support:_
• Providing technical support for remote users and troubleshooting connectivity issues
• Conducting onsite visits for hardware and software installations and troubleshooting
• Communicating effectively with remote and onsite users to resolve issues in a timely manner
_Handling and Escalation of Technical Issues:_
• Responding to user inquiries and technical issues in a timely manner
• Escalating complex technical issues to appropriate teams for resolution
• Communicating with users about the status of their reported issues and providing updates as needed
_Collaboration and Process Improvement:_
• Collaborating with other IT teams to improve service delivery processes and procedures
• Participating in meetings and brainstorming sessions to identify areas for improvement
• Making recommendations for new technologies and procedures to enhance service delivery.
**Core Qualifications:**
• Candidate should be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. It is preferred to have exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
• Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.
• Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot common IT problems and provide effective solutions.
• Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with other IT staff.
• Learning Attitude: Eagerness to learn and stay updated with the latest IT trends and technologies.
