We are looking for a motivated third-year Master or fourth-year Bachelor student, that has a strong interest in improving environmental sustainability!

Welcome to our team
The global Science & Technology department (>550 people) is an essential hub in our organization. This department is focused on processes and analytical technology to manufacture our products at internal sites and external partners, commercializing new products and maintain in-line supply to meet customer needs.  The department serves and supports as required to ensure a compliant, safe, environmentally conscious and reliable supply for new and in-line products by leveraging appropriate technology, innovating and improving our processes and analytics.  And it focuses on applying science to problem solving while managing the portfolio of project execution, troubleshooting and technical knowledge.  

A sub-team in this organization is the global Packaging Center of Excellence. The team consists of 17 highly skilled experts, all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience in packaging and environmental sustainability. The team works closely with other departments within the company to achieve the stated goals.

Your internship assignment
One of the close collaborations is the global sustainability taskforce. Sustainability is an important aspect of our work, and the taskforce focuses on reducing the carbon footprint of our products.

As an intern, you will be responsible for developing the methodology to determine this product carbon footprint. Once determined there will be 3-4 pilot products that will be subjected to the calculation of the product carbon footprint. If time permits development of potential improvements are very much welcomed.

Your responsibilities
• Develop the method to calculate the carbon footprint of our Animal Health product
• Setting up a network across the production sites to have all required product information available
• Detailing out 3 – 4 products for carbon footprint calculation
• Presenting results in a scientific and communicative way
• Providing a fresh perspective to the department by sharing your opinion.

The described tasks form the basic package and will often be performed independently after a proper training and learning period. These tasks may be supplemented with other projects and/or tasks on your own initiative or at the request of the organization.

What is required
• Third or fourth year Master student in Material Science, Packaging Technology or any other study direction that links to environmental science
• Familiarity with the topic of environmental sustainability
• Excellent English and Dutch communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independent in an international environment
 • Available for a period of 5-6 months for 3-4 days per week, this can be discussed
