To intermittently assist the DLI/CCL Regional Building Officials by inspecting State Projects (State Licensed Facilities, state buildings, and Places of Public Accommodation) that are assigned to DLI/CCL Regional Building Officials. This position will intermittently assist our Regional Building Officials by inspecting State Projects that are assigned to our Regional Building Officials. Travel and work would be conducted in, but not limited to, the following counties: Yellow Medicine, Renville, Nicollet, LeSeur, Rice, Goodhue and all counties south to the Iowa border. **Minimum Qualifications** • Must possess a current State of Minnesota Building Official certification. • Three (3) years’ experience performing building inspections. Applicants who meet the above qualifications will be further evaluated in the following areas: • Experience performing field inspections on projects that are equivalent to those regulated by the Construction Codes & Licensing Division, including state projects and state licensed facilities. • Knowledge of Minnesota State Building Code as it pertains to public buildings and state-licensed facilities. • Understanding of the operation of state, local and federal governments and their relationships. • Analytical skills to review material for relevancy, accuracy, correlation and completeness. • Written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences. **Preferred Qualifications** • Language skills other than English (such as Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen or ASL). **Additional Requirements** It is the policy that all final candidates submit to a background investigation prior to employment.
