Overview Primary responsibility is to analyze and appropriately allocate Rhode Island’s Temporary Disability Insurance and Absence Management payroll actions based on various medical leaves across all operating companies for PPL. Position must correctly interpret and apply appropriate time coding in accordance with company policy and a range of negotiated bargaining unit agreements to ensure the accurate and timely entry and application of data across various technology platforms; and to support delivery of the highest quality of customer service as a point of contact for internal/external customers and clients. This individual works with some degree of supervision, with the goal to work more independently, to perform a variety of absence management actions. This individual is a critical thinker who is detail oriented with the ability to see the big picture, possesses strong technical skills with the ability to solve system challenges, while working with large data sets. Responsibilities Responsible for all analytics related to the correct interpretation and application of the Rhode Island Temporary Disability Insurance program across a range of absence management scenarios. Ensures data integrity by accurately interpreting the leave and disability reports to communicate the correct leave and disability codes across a range of internal systems. Reviews vendor and internal reports for benefit accuracy in relation to leave of absence entitlements. Reviews time coding in Company system to assure consistency with company policy and differing bargaining unit agreements. Responds to inquiries from supervisors/management as it relates to time coding and Absence Management entitlement. Calculation of Absence Management benefit entitlements for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Short Term Disability (STD), Workers’ Compensation (WC), Paid Parental leave, Long Term Disability (LTD), etc. Tracking and managing notification from vendor to payroll as it relates to state specific entitlement offsets. Tracking and managing notification from vendor to payroll as it relates to Workers’ Compensation offsets. Coordinates development of educational tools to supervisor/management on Absence Management time codes and use of those codes. Ensures employee data is updated and maintained accurately and timely, including leave begin and end dates through change in assignment processes Ensures adequate controls are in place and effectively performed to ensure the accurate and timely execution for Leave of Absence related pay coding with payroll and related processes and controls. Works with vendors as it relates to leave status and timing. Identifies and/or participates in the identification of enhancements and process improvements for auditing, coding, and reports. Provides operations with expertise on Absence Management Payroll processes and provides guidance and directions to PPL employees. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, management, and various outside vendors. Accepts additional responsibilities and projects willingly, as needed. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field AND 2 years of relevant business experience is required. Experience with and working knowledge of payroll and human resources regulatory reporting rules and requirements. Strong controls focus and thorough understanding of controls concepts and techniques. Strong Excel experience required including the ability to work with a range of functions (e.g., arrays, vlookups, pivot tables) Knowledge of payroll and human resources practices, policies, requirements, regulations, processes, and techniques. Experience with payroll software packages (ex. ADP).
