Job Title: Interior Designer III
Job Description
The Interior Designer III will lead project design from concept to completion, providing minimal oversight from the Senior Designer. This role ensures internal deliverables align with project schedules and reviews work from project team members. The position involves interpreting designs, creating space plans, drawings, models, images, material and mood boards, and understanding client program requirements to meet their needs. The designer will coordinate with outside consultants and present internally and to clients, exhibiting problem-solving skills during discussions.
Responsibilities
+ Lead project design from concept to completion with minimal oversight from Senior Designer.
+ Ensure internal deliverables and approvals align with project schedule.
+ Review work of project team members including Designers II and I, Design Assistant, and Intern.
+ Interpret designs and drive concepts towards tangible solutions under direction from Visionary and Senior Designer.
+ Create space plans, drawings, models, images, material and mood boards under direction from Senior Designer.
+ Utilize SketchUp and Enscape for high-level design completion.
+ Understand client program requirements and constraints to interpret into design solutions.
+ Ensure project design meets client needs prior to presentation.
+ Identify and address conflicts within the design in consultation with Senior Designer.
+ Coordinate and review with outside consultants regarding renderings, modeling, and prototypes.
+ Present internally and to clients for discussion, exhibiting live problem-solving during discussions.
+ Lead internal project team coordination for finished plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction.
Required Skills
+ Experience in interior design, particularly in hospitality projects like restaurants.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
+ Understanding of schematic design, space planning, rendering, and design development.
+ Experience with FF&E selections.
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
+ 7-10 years of professional experience in a design firm required.
+ Experience working on a minimum of 3-5 restaurant projects required.
Work Environment
The position offers a beautiful office environment located on the outskirts of West Loop, with regular work hours and minimal overtime. The work schedule is Monday to Thursday in-office and Friday work-from-home. The team enjoys outings and team meetings at a brewery nearby and participates in a summer weekend retreat for team bonding. Employees receive 10 days of PTO in the first year, increasing with tenure, along with holiday pay and time off between Christmas and New Year's. Work hours start between 8:00-9:00 AM with flex hours for those commuting from the suburbs. The creative team leads projects with an emphasis on FF&E specifications, while the technical team focuses on millwork, furniture detailing, and built-in drawings, with drawing sets outsourced overseas. Projects span various hospitality sectors with a focus on restaurants and hotels.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $40.87/hr.
