The Read to Me Project is a nonprofit organization contracted by public K-12 schools in Monterey county to promote early literacy. We work directly with elementary school students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students teaching them the basics of brain development, early literacy, and the importance of reading. The curriculum throughout the year focuses on the 9 Best Ways to Read to Young Children. Students with a little one ages 6 months through kindergarten are given the opportunity to check-out books, provided by Read to Me Project, to read to their little ones at home. Students without a little one at home are invited to find people to read to such as parents or reading buddies at school.

Job Summary Job Summary

The Interim Program Director plays a central role in advancing Read to Me Project’s mission by overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all program activities. This includes supporting school sites, supervising program staff, managing data collection, and fostering strong relationships with community partners. The role requires in-person work in the Salinas office and travel throughout Monterey County. Key responsibilities include: * Supervision and coaching of Program Coordinators * Partnering with schools to ensure program fidelity * Leading data efforts and reporting * Supporting grant projects and external communications * Representing RtMP at school district and partner events
