Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. 

 

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

 

We currently have an opportunity for an Intellectual Property & Export Control Support Officer, based in Sydney, to provide essential administrative and compliance support to the Defence business function.

 

What You’ll Do
 

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
 

Coordinate invention disclosures and support IP-related documentation and briefings.

Maintain and update the IP register, tracking patents, trademarks, and copyrights.

Coordinate invention disclosures and support IP-related documentation and briefings.

Process and assess access requests for restricted and export-controlled information.

Prepare compliance recommendation and maintain records for audits and approvals.

 

What You’ll Bring 
 

Solid understanding of intellectual property processes and eagerness to learn export control regulations.

Ability to interpret and apply compliance guidelines to operational tasks.

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills for managing documentation.

Effective communication skills for briefings and stakeholder engagement.

Experience in government, defence, research, or regulated industries is desirable.

 

Currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.

 

In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may be an inherent requirement.
