About the Position The IP Attorney serves as an integral member of a designated team tasked with managing and prosecuting SLB’s US patent docket. The successful candidate will have very strong experience in patent drafting and prosecution, with an emphasis on prosecution experience. The right candidate will also have extensive patent portfolio management skills and will have a strong interest in continuing to develop and exercise their prosecution skills while managing a significant US patent docket. The right candidate will be a self-starter with a team attitude and able to perform independently while completing tasks within structured timelines. The IP Attorney will report to an IP Counsel. **Responsibilities** + Prosecutes patent applications for a designated US patent docket. + Manages a designated US patent docket and outside counsel assisting with the prosecution of the designated US patent docket. + Interacts and collaborates with IP professionals in technology center locations across the globe. + Analyzes prosecution processes looking for ways to drive efficiency and cost savings. + Provides support to IP counsel in managing SLB’s US patent docket. + Participates in the Legal Department training and development initiatives. **Qualifications & Experience** + Law degree (JD or equivalent) and member in good standing with at least one state or the District of Columbia Bar. + Registered to practice in patent matters before the USPTO. + University technical degree required, preferably in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or chemistry. + Four or more years of post-law school patent law experience with a heavy emphasis on patent preparation and prosecution strongly preferred. + Interest in continuing to focus primarily on patent prosecution. + Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills. + Ability to meet deadlines and converse and advise effectively with all levels of company management. + Ability to work independently and manage a fast-paced docket and outside counsel effectively. + Previous experience working with oil and gas technology preferred. + This position may require some travel on an occasional basis. + Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US without sponsorship.
