The Integrated Operations Planning and Strategy team is focused on ensuring our future growth plans match operational capability. This position will interface with airports, the NOC, Tech Ops, and other operational groups to devise strategies and plans to mitigate operational disruption as external and internal changes occur that affect our operation, or other growth and adjustments to the schedule are made. This position will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating future flight schedules with an operational lens, focused on specific individual United hub locations and/or line stations, and working with Network Planning to align on future schedules, develop criteria, and drive operational performance through schedule design.
Schedule Risk Evaluation
Review and evaluate operational feasibility for upcoming schedule periods, up to 12 months in advance of departure. In collaboration with analytics teams, determine operational risk associated with schedule growth or adjustments. Work closely with operational teams and Corporate Real Estate to identify operational solutions to schedule risk. Partner with Network Planning to devise schedule solutions that maximize overall enterprise value.
Operations Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong relationships with key operational stakeholders, including senior leadership, to align on strategic objectives. Act as an ambassador for the operations function, interfacing directly with operational leaders on visits to hubs and line stations and ensuring strong communication and alignment between operational planning and execution functions.
Future Schedule Design
Thoroughly analyze operational needs and constraints for the need for new schedule criteria. Evaluate feasibility of new criteria in future and existing schedule plans. Collaborate with operational analytics teams and stations to value operational risk in terms of operational performance degradation and operational costs. Present criteria proposals to operational and commercial leadership.
Schedule Data, Access, and Visibility
Engage with operational teams to educate the operation on upcoming schedules and use of self-service schedule tools. Partner with Digital Technology and Network Planning to enhance schedule reporting. Provide ad hoc schedule data to operational leadership (including executive level leadership)
NOTE: This position is based at the CSC-Willis Tower in Chicago, IL and considered a hybrid work-schedule 3 days in-office, however that may evolve with the needs of the company.
