About you and this role We are looking for the nextInstrument Technologist Leadfor Louisiana Operations TES Zone 2 supporting the polyethylene plants inPlaquemine, LA. As the Instrument Technologist Lead, you provide front line reliability and maintenance subject matter expertise to ensure sustained reliable equipment and process operation. You also provide technical expertise which may be equipment-based or repair technique-based and impacts the reliability, availability and maintainability of the system and/or equipment. This role requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of processes, procedures, and systems, and/or specialized technical expertise within an analytical/scientific method or operational process to perform a broad range of complex work assignments. May act as a working team lead, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others. Responsibilities + Monitor equipment performance, identifying and correcting negative trends. Escalate in a timely fashion to avoid EH&S or production impact. + Implement missing equipment monitoring capabilities to sustain reliability. + Does simple “5 Why” analysis to address equipment failures and provides experience on failures and repair techniques during formal root cause investigations. + Implement solutions to resolve chronic/repeat failures. + Perform, together with crafts or operators, advanced troubleshooting on equipment issues and repairs. + Coach crafts and operations personnel on appropriate repair and operations practices respectively. + Develop procedures and quality control plans with the necessary repair details such as: clearances, tolerances, materials of construction and welding procedures. Ensure their consistent usage. + Assist Turnaround front end loading with job scoping to ensure successful asset renewal and reliability improvement. + Develop maintenance procedures based on Most Effective Technology (MET). + Perform and evaluate Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) and Preventive Predictive Maintenance (PPM) results and recommends appropriate action. + Mentor other maintenance team members in core job responsibilities, common repairs, advanced repairs and advanced diagnostics. + Support capital and expense projects across the LAO polyethene plants. Required Qualifications + Must have a minimum of a High School diploma or GEDandone of the following: + 2 year degree or higher in Instrumentation, Electronics, or similar. + In lieu of a degree Dow will consider those with 3 or more years of relevant military training/experience. + NCCER certified in Instrumentation (NCCER Certification obtained through an Instructor Led Training Program is a preference). + At least 5 or more years of experience as an instrument technician required. + Able to work on a 4-10 schedule (4 days per week at 10 hours per day) with occasional overtime as dictated by business needs. Participates in an after-hour call rotation for night and weekend coverage. + Must possess a TWIC cardorbe eligible to obtain a TWIC card. Preferred Qualifications + 8 or more years' experience in Instrument Technician role preferred. + 1 or more years using Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel and Outlook and SAP. Your Skills + Equipment Reliability Expertise: Ability to monitor equipment performance, identify negative trends, and implement solutions to resolve chronic or repeat failures. + Advanced Troubleshooting: Skilled in performing complex diagnostics and repairs alongside crafts or operators and contributing to root cause investigations. + Technical Coaching and Mentorship: Experience in mentoring maintenance team members and coaching crafts and operations personnel on best practices and repair techniques. + Procedure and Quality Control Development: Capable of developing detailed maintenance procedures and quality control plans, including specifications like tolerances, materials, and welding procedures. + Predictive and Preventive Maintenance: Proficient in evaluating Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) and Preventive Predictive Maintenance (PPM) results to recommend and implement appropriate actions.
