We are looking for an Instrument Technician III to join our Geismar XA Maintenance team in Geismar.

 As an Instrument Technician III you will be responsible for supporting the operation of production departments plant-wide by maintaining the instrumentation and controls systems in good working order, and for providing periodic reports to management and will interact with peers. This position interacts daily with the control system manager and engineers, as well as interact with operations personnel, such as operators, production leaders, operations engineers, and technology team members. You will also maintain contact with counterparts in other companies within the BASF Group as well as those in other companies via industry organizations.

During your 10-hour shift as a Instrument Technician III, you will

 

Install, wire, calibrate, and repair a wide variety of chemical process instrumentation including those for measurement and control of fluid flow, pressure, temperature, level, pH, density, and position.Perform control loop calibrations, as well as field and bench calibration of process instruments. Process control systems is primarily Foxboro with Triconex Safety Systems, however, familiarity with PLCs and local control systems is also important.  Various control parameters include electrical, pneumatic, nuclear, mechanical, hydraulic, and wireless.Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections, as well as maintain ISO-9001, OSHA-PSM, and TS-16949 compliance documentation and field tagging. You will also have significant activities around maintaining safety instruments systems.Occasionally perform a wide variety of work besides instrumentation and controls maintenance as the plant situations dictate.  This work may include basic pipe fitting, millwright, insulation, and operator assistance tasks.If you...

 

Hold a High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of experience in plant instrumentation maintenance, or construction. Completion of an Industrial Instrumentation trade program or applicable trade school program and/or ISA Certification will be a plus.Are able to read and interpret P&IDs, flow diagrams, single line and loop diagrams, sequence charts and interlock tables.Have familiarity with PLCs and local control systems, as well as with proportional and PID control modes. Familiarity with ANSI, metric standard fasteners and fittings, and domestic and European equipment. Experience with Foxboro Control Systems and Triconex Safety Systems will be a plus.Possess basic understanding of process analyzers.Have effective communication skills to interact with production personnel, supervision, engineering, and external suppliers (such as vendors' technical representatives).Possess experience with SAP computerized maintenance management system it will be a plus.Create your own chemistry with you@BASF
