Job Summary: The Accounting Instructor position involves teaching undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of key accounting principles and practices. The instructor will be responsible for preparing and delivering engaging lectures, developing course materials, assessing student performance, and fostering a positive learning environment. In addition to teaching, the role includes participating in departmental service activities, maintaining professional development, and engaging in scholarly or applied research consistent with academic standards. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development and help prepare students for careers in accounting by combining strong academic knowledge with practical, real-world insights. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ educational journeys while advancing one’s own professional growth in a collaborative academic setting. Work Performed: The Accounting Instructor will be required to teach four accounting courses per semester, which may include introductory through advanced-level courses. Instruction may be delivered in a variety of formats, including in-person, and online, depending on departmental needs. The faculty member is expected to deliver high-quality, student-centered instruction that supports academic success and engagement. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the instructor will participate in service activities at the department, college, and university levels. This includes contributing to curriculum development, serving on committees, supporting student organizations, and engaging in activities that advance the mission of the department and the broader academic community. The instructor will also be expected to maintain ongoing professional development and engagement in research or scholarly activities consistent with AACSB. This may include contributions to practice, pedagogical scholarship, or applied research that supports instructional effectiveness and remains current with the evolving demands of the accounting profession. Necessary Qualifications: To be considered for the position of Accounting Instructor, applicants must hold at least a master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing is preferred for all applicants. This ensures candidates bring a strong foundation in professional standards and ethics relevant to the discipline. Applicants must also demonstrate significant and relevant professional experience in the field of accounting. This experience may include work in public accounting, corporate finance, auditing, taxation, or financial reporting. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to convey complex accounting concepts to students effectively. Familiarity with instructional technology, curriculum development, and both in-person and online teaching formats is a plus. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution, demonstrating a strong academic foundation in the discipline. Additional preference will be given to candidates who hold an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, reflecting a recognized standard of professional competence and expertise in the field. Candidates with a combination of academic preparation and professional certification will be best positioned to contribute effectively to both the instructional and applied aspects of the accounting curriculum.
