About this Job
This position is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, faculty position.

Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent (e.g. Hiset or GED).
+ A minimum of five (5) years of work experience as a welder with appropriate certifications.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW Welding Processes.
+ A strong commitment to and passion for the mission of BPCC.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
+ Valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Associate degree in Welding Technology, Technical Studies (with at least 45 semester credits from Welding courses), or closely related field from an accredited college or university with a minimum of three (3) years of work experience as a welder with appropriate certifications.
+ A minimum of seven (7) years of work experience as a welder with appropriate certifications.
+ Two (2) years of instructor/training experience.
+ AWS Certified Welder (CW), Certified Welding Educator (CWE), and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certifications.
+ National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Welding Certifications (Levels 1 – 4).
+ Experience in curriculum development and review.
+ Experience in conducting student needs assessment and establishing student learning outcomes.
+ Experience teaching welding in an open lab scheduling environment.
+ An in-depth working knowledge of the rules, regulations, and principles of the Council on Occupational Education.
+ Proficiency in programming languages and program logic controllers (PLC).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
+ Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
+ Capable of lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 70 pounds.
+ Dexterity to handle welding tools and equipment safely and effectively.
+ Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on demonstrations.
+ Occasional travel is required in an automobile for up to five (5) hours at a time, with some overnight stays.

Job Specification
The Welding Instructor at Bossier campus of Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in welding technology to students pursuing technical and industrial careers. The instructor will teach various welding courses, including but not limited to Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW). The instructor will also be required to teach the health and safety standards of the welding industry as aligned to NCCER Core and NCCER Level 1. The role requires a commitment to student success, continuous improvement of instructional methods, and adherence to industry standards and safety practices.
Job Duties and Other Information
+ Develop and deliver comprehensive lessons that align with the curriculum and industry standards.
+ Teach welding courses at various levels, ensuring content is engaging, relevant, and effectively delivered.
+ Assess and evaluate student progress through exams, practical tests, and assignments.
+ Continuously update course materials and teaching methods to reflect current industry practices and technologies.
+ Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, helping them navigate their educational and career paths.
+ Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and success.
+ Enforce strict safety protocols in the classroom and welding lab to ensure a safe learning environment.
+ Ensure all equipment and materials are used correctly and maintained properly.
+ Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the improvement of the technical and industrial Division.
+ Establish and maintain relationships with local businesses, industry partners, and community organizations.
+ Coordinate with industry representatives to ensure the program meets workforce needs and standards.
+ Facilitate student internships, apprenticeships, and job placement opportunities.
+ Recruit students into the program.
+ Meet expectations as a faculty member as described in the full-time faculty agreement.
+ Collect program and student data.
+ Compile reports on the program's progress.
+ Use the College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) to accurately track student progress, grades, and attendance.
+ Other duties as assigned.
