Group/Division

The KLA Services team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support. The KLA Services organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

The Instructional Designer develops structured, high-impact training using modern methodologies like ADDIE, SAM, and LxD. The role focuses on creating scalable learning solutions, building SEMATECH-aligned certification frameworks, and leveraging AI for personalized training.


Responsibilities

Building certification frameworks aligned with SEMATECH standardsExploring AI-driven solutions for training personalization and scalabilityApplying instructional design principles to classroom and online trainingDeveloping storyboards, documents, eLearning modules, and other media for training deliveryDesigning training for hardware service, maintenance, installation, repair, troubleshooting, part replacement, and upgradesInterfacing with functional teams (e.g., R&D, support, manufacturing) to develop training contentResearching and converting technical information into training for both technical and non-technical audiencesConducting independent review meetings with engineering and technical staffSupporting testing and validation of training solutions, specifying revisions, and validating with SMEsSubmitting change requests for written procedures as neededFollowing documentation best practices and templates; devising new standards where necessaryManaging projects end-to-end, including planning, monitoring, and change managementMaintaining action trackers and project documentationMaking independent decisions with minimal or no managerial supportDemonstrating independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteriaCollaborating effectively with SMEs across functions and geographiesDriving alignment among stakeholders with conflicting requirementsHandling complex problems requiring higher-order critical thinking and evaluation of alternativesMaintaining a high level of detail orientation while keeping the big picture in mindDemonstrating high motivation, initiative, and commitment to continuous learningCommunicating clearly in written and spoken English with an international audiencePreparing training curricula and delivering technical training when neededWorking efficiently in a matrix environment with multiple direct and indirect managersCollaborating with global teams and adapting to diverse cultural contexts

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Instructional DesignAt least 7 years of experience in technical engineering fields (semiconductor industry preferred)Strong technical developing skills with demonstrable examplesHigh-level English proficiency with strong written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to manage complex projects, collaborate across global teams, and apply modern instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE, SAM, and LxD.
