Minimum Qualifications Passage of the PUSD examination for this classification and one year experience working with children in an organized setting. The ability to speak, read and write in a designated second language. **This recruitment is for the establishment of a District Interpreter list as well as substitute opportunities. Applicants are required to attend Interpreter Training through Learning Support Services upon eligibility determination.**

The Instructional Assistant – Bilingual Proficient classification serves as an English language model to students who are limited or non-English speaking and assists by providing instruction to these students in both English and a designated second language. This classification also assists by interpreting and translating for students, parents, counselors, teachers and others. Classified staff working in this job classification who possess a valid and current CA teaching credential, will be placed at Step 6 of the salary range designated for this classification.

Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary at a level to serve as an English language model. Reading, writing and oral communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Basic computer operation. Basic record-keeping techniques. Classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct.
