SummarySTERIS is looking for a skilled and driven Installation Project Engineer to join our team in Hong Kong. In this role, you will take full ownership of installation projects within your assigned territory, delivering project management and installation services for STERIS Capital Equipment. You will be responsible for overseeing the financial performance of multiple construction and retrofit projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
You will play a key role in developing and training subcontractors, maintaining installation quality, and ensuring customer satisfaction. As the on-site representative of STERIS, you will make operational decisions and manage relationships with key stakeholders. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the service organization, using clear communication, data-driven insights, and technical expertise to support strategic goals and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do Directly manages and develops installation sub-contractor members to ensure Customer business expectations are met. Plans, organizes, directs and controls all costs of installation and subcontracting for assigned projects. Coordinates resources to insure timely and cost-effective installation and completion of assigned projects. Assists sales in development of project cost estimates. Develops and administers subcontractor request for proposal packages and evaluates responses. Performs risk assessment analysis. Based on assessment, develops project execution plan including work breakdown structure and project schedule in accordance with plans and specifications. Verifies with customer that expectations will be met or exceeded through execution of plan. Collaborate with engineering and sales teams using AutoCAD software to create and review project designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Provides detailed scope of work and instructions to installers and subcontractors. Verifies understanding of project expectations. Manage all construction-related activities, including power supply, drainage systems, loading requirements, water supply, ventilation, and installation processes. Routinely walks job sites and attends progress and coordination meetings to ensure quality installation of products. Proactively evaluates potential problems on the job and initiates action to limit negative outcomes. Uses negotiation skills to consistently resolve disputes without the need for escalation. Provides estimates or negotiates work outside original scope. Reviews customer’s systems during installation and if needed points out opportunities for improvement resulting in value-added change orders. Pursues, secures and closes change-orders for equitable adjustments to contracts. Coordinates equipment start-up by Field Service Representatives in conjunction with Service Managers. Notifies Sales Representatives of equipment readiness for customer in-service training. Ensures job completion documentation is completed and seamless transition to service is achieved. Develops close working relationships with Local code enforcement officials to define installation requirements for all company equipment. Holds licenses as necessary to support installation of equipment. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance required on STERIS and related product lines as needed. Develop and maintain effective, communicative relationships with customers, managers, support functions and the sales organization. Communicate activities to customers related to project installations and preventive and corrective maintenance. Utilize provided product and industry knowledge to ensure customer’s expectations of service are exceeded. Actively seek continuing education opportunities. Identify and implement changes to processes, systems and/or procedures that improve performance and increase department efficiency. Maintains and updates customer record system for own use and the benefit of the other departments. Such as installed bases of our equipment in local hospitals and the serial numbers of the equipment supplied. Assist with regional projects as required. Maintains courteous, smart and professional demeanour when working with customers, contractors, management and colleagues. The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed Associate’s Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management. Solid experience in project management within the medical equipment or healthcare industry, with direct interface with the Health Authority in Hong Kong. Proficiency in AutoCAD and a strong understanding of construction and installation requirements. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and perform effectively under pressure. Experience in driving process improvements; familiarity with Lean principles is a plus. Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) is an advantage.
