Inspector/Superintendent
**This Opportunity** This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for an Inspector/Superintendent to be based out of NY MTA Headquarters in lower Manhattan. Be a part of our PMCM Team and a member of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. This position is working as part of the MTA’s Small Business Development and Mentoring Program inspecting and overseeing construction work in the field but also mentoring Small Business Contractors on how to perform the tasks necessary for completing MTA projects. Projects are throughout the New York metropolitan area supporting all MTA Agencies with staff reporting directly to project sites. **Your Impact** + Working independently in the field at two or more project construction sites monitoring the contractual compliance of all construction activities. + Provide inspection services and oversight for various construction operations with a primary focus on safety requirements and quality assurance. + Attend daily start of shift project toolbox meetings and end of shift meetings. + Assist project staff with performing field tests of construction materials and reviewing submissions including shop drawings and work plans. + Prepare detailed daily work reports. + Coordinate, schedule, and interact with MTA staff for inspections, access and protection, flagging, safety, and project management. + Perform checks and calculations for quantity payment items used in preparation of contract payments. + Participate in project meetings and ensure the contractor field staff are conforming to all health and safety standards. + Schedule and support Special Inspections. + Address any field concerns and schedule impacts with the General Superintendent and/or Project Manager. + Work with the Contractor to minimize disruptions to the public in compliance with project phasing plans, MPT plans and permits. + Pro-actively review the contract documents to anticipate, identify, and discuss potential project issues with + Project Manager and/or MTA management. + Keep the Project Manager and/or MTA management informed on all contract discrepancies and differing field conditions. + Electronic entry of data and reports into web-based construction management software application + Provide mentoring to MTA Small Business Contractors for the necessary performance and submissions to meet project completion dates. + Exposure to railroad construction environments and year-round weather conditions. + Potential for working days, nights, and weekends. + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. **Who You Are** Required Requirements: + High School Diploma + Minimum of 7 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior construction inspection experience. + Shall have excellent communication skills and managed or monitored at least two (2) projects of at least one (1) million dollars each. + Shall have experience in infrastructure projects. + Shall have demonstrated ability to understand and interpret contract documents such as specifications, contract drawings and shop drawings. + Shall have ability to document and report project issues and performance through Electronic Project Management programs, preferably Asite and/or Procore. + Shall have training and experience in safety and quality assurance. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Preferred Requirements: + Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Construction Management + MTA experience with previous track safety training + FE License a plus + NICET I or equivalent + Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation. + Prior experience training, mentoring or teaching related topics. Expected Salary: $61,900 - 118,800 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
