Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem

Description:

Position Purpose

Supports pharmacists in all aspects of pharmacy activities. This includes maintaining Pyxis stock levels by loading and refilling medications including narcotics for all in-patients. Prepares and compounds neonatal oral liquids, and other extemporaneous products. Packages and distributes drugs and sterile products.

What you will do

Perform general pharmacy duties by assisting pharmacists with medication dispensing duties including deliveries, checking stock levels and picking medications.

Answer telephones, assist nurses trouble-shooting Pyxis questions and drawer maintenance

Inspect assigned nursing units for proper drug storage, stability and expiration dates as well as maintaining proper drug reliability in the pharmacy

Maintain records of orders, processes patient charges and collects productivity statistics

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a hospital-based, community college or military technician training program preferable.

Previous experience strongly preferred; IV and compounding experience preferred

Current state (CT) registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required

Pharmacy Technician I: PTCB National certification as a Pharmacy Technician is required within 1 year of hire

Pharmacy Technician II: PTCB National certification as a Pharmacy Technician is required
