JOIN MUNSON HEALTHCARE’S BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TEAM!  Full-time |  GENERAL SUMMARY We are seeking a full-time Behavioral Health Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide assessment, treatment planning, psychiatric services, and care coordination for patients seen in inpatient settings. This psychiatric APP works in partnership with psychiatrist on a general adult inpatient psychiatric unit with a full complement of psychiatric nurses, clinical therapists/case managers and behavioral health technicians. Shifts are 7 days on and 7 days off.   As a physician-dependent practitioner, work in collaboration with the Psychiatrists.  Receives clinical direction from the Substance Use Disorder Medical Director, Psychiatrists, and Psychiatry Department Chief. Reports to the Manager of the assigned outpatient department. Reports to and works under the clinical supervision of a psychiatrist. Accountable to the Medical Director and System Director of Behavioral Health and the Department of Psychiatry Chair.  Works collaboratively with physicians and all members of the patient care team. Prescriptive authority granted by specific specialty under the Michigan Board of Healthcare Professional licensing and DEA regulations.  STANDARD OF CAREManage chronic conditions and acute episodic illnesses and minor injuries, using best practices, i.e., evidence-based practice.Obtain relevant health and medical histories from patients and/or caregivers.Perform physical exams appropriate for age and history.Identify medical and health risks and needs.Order, conduct and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests.Formulate the appropriate plan of care based on history, physical exam, clinical findings, and any diagnostic findings.Develop care plans and communicate plans to patient, their care giver, or family.Perform procedures within the scope of expertise (e.g., I&Ds, suturing wound closure, etc.)Identify non-pharmacologic interventions and prescribe non-pharmacologic therapies; identify pharmacologic interventions and prescribe pharmacologic therapies.Provide relevant patient education.Make appropriate referrals to physicians and other health professionals and community agencies.Participate in quality improvement review on a periodic basis, including systematic review of records and treatment plans, helps disseminate findings and implement plans for improvement.Serve as an educational resource for ancillary staff.Complete and maintain written electronic records in a timely fashion and in compliance with MHC standards.STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS Education / Training: Physician Assistant: A Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA (Accreditation Review Commission on Education for Physician Assistants) accredited institution or PA Certificate Program. Certification as a Physician Assistant by the AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants) Licensure as a Physician Assistant by the State of MichiganNurse Practitioner: Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan Certified as Family Nurse Practitioner with the American Nurses AssociationWork Experience: Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Behavioral Health preferred.Certification, Licensure, Registration: Board eligible/certified to practice in the State of Michigan.Current BCLS certification required.NPs: Psychiatric Mental Health Certification (PMHNP)PAs: Psychiatric practice certificationCandidate must apply for and be granted appropriate clinical privileges through MMC’s normal credentialing processes before rendering services.ESSENTIAL DUTIES Supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of Munson Healthcare.Embraces and supports the Performance Improvement philosophy of Munson Healthcare.Promotes personal and patient safety.Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.Acknowledge safety is self-responsibility.
