Innovation & Engineering Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Innovation and Engineering Manager to lead the development of groundbreaking technologies, processes, and products. This role combines leadership in engineering execution with a strong focus on innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and driving continuous improvement. You will be responsible for managing the engineering team, overseeing product development initiatives, and fostering a culture of creativity and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Innovation Leadership:

Uncover customer problems and emerging industry trends by engaging with end users, influencers and stakeholders

Lead development of robust, data-driven business cases to fill Innovation Pipeline

Lead ideation sessions and innovation workshops across departments to generate new concepts

Develop and implement innovation roadmaps aligned with business goals/in strategic market segments

Engineering Management:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technical staff

Coach team through ITW’s stage-gate process on all engineering projects, from concept to completion

Drive disciplined execution of project milestones and ensure delivery of innovation targets

Ensure projects meet specifications, budget, timeline, and quality standards

Collaboration & Strategy:

Work cross-functionally with commercial and operations teams, embedding ITW innovation process and business model.

Translate business challenges into technical opportunities and scalable solutions.

Support strategic planning through feasibility assessments and proof-of-concept development.

Process Improvement & Governance:

Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and best practices.

Implement metrics to track innovation pipeline and engineering performance.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s in Engineering, Innovation Management, or a related field required. Master’s preferred.

8+ years of engineering or product development experience with 3+ years in a leadership or managerial role.

5+ years of experience with customer discovery and value proposition work

Proven track record of managing complex projects and delivering innovative solutions.

Strong understanding of product development, prototyping, and commercialization.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to inspire teams and drive a culture of innovation and accountability.

Up to 20% domestic travel

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to be present and work in various plant locations. Be able to follow and use specific job site safety equipment and procedures.  Must be able to handle various company products such as fasteners, tools, anchors and adhesives while following proper safety guidelines established by the company.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands and fingers to handle, or feel.

Annual base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $155,000 plus up to 12% annual bonus incentive. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Company considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
